Smart Site Search

Website Search That Understands What Visitors Mean

Most website search boxes only match the exact words someone types. When visitors describe a problem in their own words, they get the wrong page or nothing at all, and they leave. Smart site search can match what they mean, so they find the right page. It’s included on every plan.

Same Search, Two Different Answers

We ran these searches on the HealthCARE Express website, an urgent care network with hundreds of pages and articles. Each one ran twice: once by keyword, the way most website search works, and once by meaning.

Virtual Visits: Spectacular Patient-Centered Telemedicine

Keyword search shows what the site’s keyword search returned. Search by meaning shows the first page it matched. Searched in October 2026. “Teladoc” was typed by a real visitor to the site.

Why Exact-Word Search Lets Visitors Down

Keyword search is fast, and it works when visitors type the name of what they want. These are the searches it misses.

People Describe Problems in Their Own Words

A visitor types “burning when I pee.” The page is called “UTI Symptoms.” They share no words, so keyword search finds nothing.

It Matches Words, Not Meaning

“Think I broke my wrist” finds two posts that happen to say “think,” and nothing about broken bones. The site’s rash article says “rashes,” so a search for “rash” misses it.

Brand Names and Shorthand

Real visitors searched for “Teladoc” and “MCV4.” Neither word is on the site. Search by meaning sent them to virtual visits and to Vaccines & Testing.

No Match? It Says So

Search by meaning only lists pages that really match. On the same site, a search for “sciatica” correctly found nothing, instead of sending the visitor to a random page.

How it works

How Smart Site Search Works

Nothing to set up. It comes with your website and keeps itself up to date.

1

We index every page by meaning

Your pages, services and articles are indexed by what they say, not just the words they use. New and changed pages are picked up within minutes.

2

Keyword results show instantly

Every search starts with fast keyword results, and misspellings are fixed for visitors: “vacines” still finds Vaccines & Testing.

3

One click searches by meaning

If the results look wrong, visitors switch to Meaning and get the pages that match what they meant. We can also set your search to start in Meaning.

Your AI live chat uses the same search to answer visitors’ questions.

Search by meaning only lists pages that are a real match. If nothing on your site fits, it says so and shows the keyword results instead of guessing.
Yes. Your AI live chat uses the same search to find the page that answers a visitor’s question, so it can reply with a link to the right page, day or night.
No. It’s on when we build your site, and it updates itself as you add and change pages.
